Carlos Valderrama

Carlos Valderrama is one of the greatest Colombian footballers of all-time. Valderrama starred for Colombia's national team from 1985 to 1998. He was the second-most capped player in his country's history, participating in three World Cups and five Copa America tournaments. In 1987 and 1993, Valderrama was named the South American Footballer of the Year. He was voted the Colombian Player of the Century in 1999.

Valderrama mostly played professionally in his home country prior to becoming one of the early stars of Major League Soccer in the U.S. He joined the Tampa Bay Mutiny in 1996, helping them win the league's Supporters; Shield in its inaugural year. Valderrama was also named league MVP. He played in MLS until 2003 and was named to the league's all-time Best XI list. In 2004, Valderrama was included on the FIFA 100 list of the 125 greatest living players.
