Carl Crawford

Carl Crawford was a professional baseball outfielder for the MLB. While in high school, Crawford was a letterman in football, basketball and baseball. He was offered a scholarship from UCLA to play point guard for their basketball team. Crawford also had the option to play football for Nebraska, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, and Tulsa. In the end, Crawford turned down all of the offers to pursue a baseball career. In the summer of his junior year, Crawford joined the Pasadena Stars select baseball team and was seen by MLB scouts. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays selected Crawford as the 52nd overall pick in the 1999 MLB Draft. Crawford remained in the minor league until 2002. Crawford made his Major League debut on July 20, 2002 and he made his first Major League hit. Crawford remained with the Devil Rays until 2010. Crawford signed a 7-year, $142 million contract with the Boston Red Sox on December 8, 2010. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 25, 2012.
