About Canelo Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez is the current lineal, WBC and The Ring middleweight champion. He formerly held the light middleweight belts in the WBC, WBA and The Ring. There is no question that Alvarez is one of the bright young stars in the sport. His one career loss came at the hands of legendary undefeated fighter Floyd Mayweather. Alvarez pushed Mayweather to 12 rounds, ultimately losing the fight in a decision. He has defeated other notable fighters like Miguel Cotto andShane Mosley. Alvarez began his career as a pro fighter at the age of 15 and knocked out 11 of his first 13 opponents. He originally started boxing when he was 13 and captured the 2005 Junior Mexican National Boxing Champinoship before turning pro. Alvarez finished his amateur career 44-2. He has seven siblings, six of them brothers who also went on to fight professionally.
