About Calvin Borel
Calvin Borel is a living legend in the sport of horse racing. As a jockey he has rode to victory in the 2007, 2009 and 2010 Kentucky Derby’s. In 2009 Borel rode Mine that Bird to victories as both the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks becoming one of few jockey’s to ever win both races on the same horse in the same year. In 2009 Borel rode thoroughbred Rachel Alexandria to a win at the Preakness Stakes as well, making him the first jockey to win the first two legs of the Triple Crown on different horses. Borel grew up in Lousiana and has spent over 25 years as a jockey at the professional level. To date he has racked up 5,053 career wins with three wins at the Delta Downs, three wins at the Lousiana Downs, two wins at Oaklawn Park, two wins at Ellis Park, four wins at Churchill Downs and wins at both Turfway Park and the Kentucky Downs. Borel is one of only 26 jockeys to ever reach the 5,000 win milestone.
