About Briana Scurry
Briana Scurry was the goalkeeper for the U.S. women's national soccer team that an entire generation of girls looked up to. Scurry was part of the 1999 World Cup champion team and also won gold medals at the 1996 and 2004 Olympics. She miraculously was in net during four different World Cup runs. Her 173 international appearances are second all-time among female soccer keepers. In 2017, Scurry became the first female goalkeeper and the first black woman inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Throughout her life in the spotlight, she has been an advocate for diversity. She also is well-known for being outspoken on concussions in sports.
