About Brian Holman
Brian Holman is a former MLB pitcher who spent three seasons in the league with the Montreal Exposand the Seattle Mariners. Holman started his baseball career in high school, earning multiple honors andeventually receiving an athletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska. In the 1983 MLB Draft,Holman was selected in the first round by the Montreal Expos, and chose to sign adeal with them ratherthan attend the University of Nebraska. Within the Expos’ minor league system, Holman receivedmultiple honors and awards, including three Player of the Month awards. Considered to be one of thetop prospects within the Exposorganization, Holman made his highly anticipated major league debut in1988 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Five days later,Holman earned his first MLB victory against theAtlanta Braves in a complete game shutout. Over the next two years, Holmanwould become one of thegame’s best young pitchers, recording 32 wins and 14 complete games, but his playingcareerwas cutshort in 1991 due to a lingering arm injury.
