About Brian Hernandez Jr.
Brian Hernandez Jr. is a very successful jockey who began his career in 2003. His first career win came at Delta Downs that same year. And in 2004, he recorded 243 victories, which was enough to earn him the Eclipse Award, the award given to the Outstanding Apprentice Jockey. Hernandez has since amassed over 2,500 career wins, including notable triumphs in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic aboard Fort Larned and a historic 2024 sweep of the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby with Thorpedo Anna and Mystik Dan, respectively. His enduring partnership with trainer Kenny McPeek has been instrumental in these successes. Beyond his on-track achievements, Hernandez was honored with the 2024 Mike Venezia Memorial Award for his exemplary sportsmanship and citizenship.
