Brandon Belt Biography

Brandon Belt is a standout first baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays. Belt made his major league debut with the San Francisco Giants in 2011 he has helped his team to two World Series titles in 2012 and 2014. Belt is a Texas boy, born and raised in Lufkin, Texas.  After a stellar prep career at Hudson High School the Boston Red Sox selected him in the 11th round of the 2006 MLB Draft as a pitcher, but he chose instead to pursue a college career at San Jacinto Community College.  After pitching in junior college he matriculated to the University of Texas and made the transition to first base.  In 2009 the Giants selected him in the fifth round of the MLB Draft as a first baseman and he began his meteoric rise through their minor league organization. After hitting .352 in the minor leagues in 2010 he established himself as one of the top prospects in all of baseball.
