About Brad Lidge
Brad Lidge is a former major leaguer who was one of the best closers in the game during his 11-year career. The Houston Astros originally selected him in the 11th round of the 1998 MLB Draft. After fighting through several injuries, he made his big league debut with the Astros in 2002. Lidge debuted as Houston's setup man and became the team's closer in 2004. That first season, he set a National League record for a reliever with 157 strikeouts. Lidge was vital in helping the Astros reach the 2005 World Series. He made his first All-Star team and collected a career-high 42 saves. Lidge was acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies via trade in 2008. He was a perfect 41 for 41 in saves during his first season with the Phillies and helped them win the World Series. Lidge won the National League Rolaids Relief Man Award and the National League Comeback Player of the Year. He pitched for Philadelphia until 2011 and spent one final season with the Washington Nationals. Lidge retired with 225 career saves. He is currently a personality on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio.
