About Bobby Knoop
Bobby Knoop was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa and played nine seasons in the big leagues with the California Angels, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals from 1964 to 1972. Knoop was originally signed by the Milwaukee Braves after the 1956 Rule 5 draft and went on to make his MLB debut with the Angels later that year. Two years later he had a career year, hitting 17 homeruns and leading the league with 11 triples while also driving in 72 runs and scoring 54 runs in route to earning All-Star honors and the first of his three consecutive Gold Glove Awards at second base. After his retirement as a player he coached in the minor leagues for 21 seasons with the White Sox, Angels, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations.Currently he served as an infield assistant at an Arizona high school and also as an infield coach with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization.
