About Billy Tubbs
Billy Tubbs is a former mens college basketball coach for schools such as the University of Oklahoma, TCU and Lamar University. Tubbs became known around the league and by fans for his high scoring offense and full-court press defense. Billy has a long list of accolades to his credit including being only the ninth coach in NCAA history to score 100 wins at three different schools and he became the 28th coach to reach the 600 win mark during the 2003-2004 season. Billy is the man that led 12 teams to the NCAA Tournament, had eighteen 20 win seasons, captured 8 conference championships, had six National Invitation Tournament appearances, and three conference tournament championships. His 641-340 record as head coach means that Tubbs is ranked 34th all-time in wins in NCAA history as a coach. That kind of success led to Basketball Weekly naming Tubbs the National Coach of the Year in 1983 and 1985.
