About Bennie Seltzer
Bennie Seltzer was born in Birmingham, Alabama and played his college basketball at Washington State University from 1989 to 1993. After earning his undergraduate degree he turned his focus to coaching and mentoring young basketball players. In 1997 he landed his first college-coaching job as an assistant at the University of Oklahoma. He remained in that position for nine seasons and helped the Sooners to eight NCAA Tournament appearances. After the 2006 season he was hired on as an assistant at Marquette University for two seasons and then joined the Indiana coaching staff in 2008. During his three seasons with Indiana he was a part of a rebuilding process that ended with a Big Ten Conference championship and a run to the Sweet Sixteen in 2011-12. After the 2012 season he was hired as the head coach at Samford University, where he remained until 2014.
