Andy Russell Biography

Andy Russell is a linebacker from the glory days of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Russell is a seven-time Pro Bowl pick and two-time Super Bowl champion. As a member of the legendary “Steel Curtain” defense, he spent his entire 12 year career with the Steelers. The four-time All-Pro was the Steelers team MVP in 1971. After his rookie season, he spent two years stationed in Germany with the Army to fulfill his ROTC requirements. Russell went to high school in St. Louis, Missouri and played at the University of Missouri, where he became a member of the school’s hall of fame. He earned a degree in economics while in Columbia and parlayed that into a successful post-football career as a partner of a Pittsburgh investment banking firm. Russell has authored three books, Beyond the Goalpost, A Steelers Odyssey, and An Odd Steelers Journey. The Andy Russell Charitable Foundation was established in 1999 to support children’s charities. The Andy Russell Celebrity Classic has been around for almost 40 years and has raised over six million dollars for charity.
