About Aimee Boorman
Aimee Boorman is an American gymnastics coach renowned for cultivating Simon Biles, the 2016 Olympic champion and 2013-2015 world champion, from the age of six to the 2016 Rio Olympics as head coach of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team.
A native of Chicago, Boorman grew up in a single-parent household and excelled in gymnastics from the age of six. At thirteen, she took on coaching to fund her training. She thrived in floor exercise and won a city championship as a freshman. She went on to study at Northern Illinois University and earned a sports business degree. After graduation, she moved to Texas and began coaching at Cypress Academy of Gymnastics and Bannon’s Gymnastics, where she started developing Biles.
Boorman authored “The Balance: My Years Coaching Simon Biles,” detailing her coaching philosophy and mental and physical balance mantra.
Since 2001, Boorman has been an assistant head coach for the Netherlands’ women’s gymnastics team. She is a co-founder of the Global Impact Gymnastics Alliance, which hopes to launch a professional league for the sport.
