About Xavier McDaniel
Xavier McDaniel was an NBA forward who played for five different teams and was an All-Star with the Seattle SuperSonics in 1988. McDaniel averaged over 20 points per game in his five plus season run with the SuperSonics. His rookie season saw him average 17.1 points per game and finish second to Patrick Ewing in Rookie of the Year balloting. In his second year, the SuperSonics advanced to the Western Conference Finals. After he was traded to the Phoenix Suns 15 games into 1990-91, McDaniel never saw the same levels of success. He retired after the 1997-98 season. McDaniel had a storied college career at Wichita State. He led Division 1 in scoring and rebounding in 1985 and was a consensus first-team All-American. A two-time Missouri Valley Conference player of the year, McDaniel’s #34 jersey was retired by the Shockers. His daughter Xylina plays basketball for the University of North Carolina.
