About Will Venable
Will Venable is the manager of the Chicago White Sox. He was hired at the end of the 2024 season after the White Sox had a historically bad year as a franchise. Venable attended Princeton University, where he played basketball and baseball. The San Diego Padres selected him in the 2005 MLB Draft and played nine seasons in the majors with the Padres, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers, compiling a .249 batting average with 81 home runs and 135 stolen bases. After retiring in 2016, Venable transitioned into coaching and front office roles, including positions with the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and Texas Rangers. Notably, he served as the associate manager under Bruce Bochy during the Rangers' 2023 World Series championship run. Known for his emphasis on communication and player development, Venable brings a fresh perspective and leadership to the White Sox as they aim to rebuild and return to competitiveness.
