About Vladislav Tretiak
Vladislav Tretiak played professional ice hockey as a goaltender in the Soviet Ice Hockey League but is better known for his performance as the goaltender for the Soviet Unions international team from 1970-1984. Tretiaks 14 year span as the Soviet Unions keeper is one of the most impressive careers in hockey history and has led to him being widely considered one of the greatest goaltenders in the sports history. In those 14 years, Tretiak won 3 Olympic gold medals and 1 silver medal (1980 Miracle on Ice) as well as 10 gold medals at World Championships with 2 silvers and a bronze. In 117 international games, Tretiak only had 207 goals against him with a 1.90 goals against average. Following his hockey career, Tretiak was elected into the World Hockey Hall of Fame and is the current president of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia.
