About Troy Taylor
Troy Taylor had a unique path, showing off his offensive acumen along the way to being named the head football coach at Stanford. Prior to being hired in 2023, Taylor spent three seasons as the head coach at Sacramento State. He finished 30-8 overall with three FCS Playoff appearances. Each year, Taylor was also named Big Sky Coach of the Year. He had previously spent time as an offensive coordinator at Eastern Washington and Utah.
Taylor has a long association with the Cal program, first as a record-setting quarterback who once held school records for career passing yards and total offense. After a brief NFL career, he also spent time as a Golden Bears assistant coach. Finally, in between stints as a high school head coach, Taylor was the radio color commentator for Cal games.
