About Tom Thayer
Tom Thayer is a native of Joliet, Illinois and played his collegiate football at Notre Dame. During his time at Notre Dame he was a member of the Fighting Irish team that finished 7-0 and No. 1 in the Coaches’ Poll and AP Poll. As a guard he was top notch, earning honorable mention All-American honors during his senior year and earning his bachelors degree in media communications in 1983. After his days in South Bend he made his way to the USFL with the Chicago Blitz. He played two years in the USFL before finally achieving his dream of playing in the NFL. In 1985 he joined the Chicago Bears and played seven seasons in the Windy City before finally ending his career with the Miami Dolphins. During his first season with the Bears he helped the team to a win in Super Bowl XX. After his career came to an end he put his media communications degree to good use as a radio broadcaster and television personality.
