About Tom Rathman
Tom Rathman is a pure athlete. During his high school career at Grand Island Senior High he was a Hall of Fame running back and won the state championship in the high jump in 1980. After high school he attended the University of Nebraska and became the greatest fullback in their school’s history, finishing with a record 1,425 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. In 1986 he joined the San Francisco 49ers where he spent the first six seasons of his career. In 1989 he led all NFL running backs with 73 receptions for 616 yards and finished his career with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1994 with 2,020 rushing yards, 320 receptions for 2,684 yards, and 34 total touchdowns. As a player he was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams in 1988 and 1989.
