About Tom Izzo
Tom Izzo has guided the Michigan State University basketball team to unprecedented success since taking over the Spartans as their head coach in 1995. Over the last 17 seasons he has led his teams to one NCAA title, Six Final Four appearances, seven Big Ten regular-season championships and a conference-best 15 straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Prior to his time at Michigan State he served as an assistant for the Spartans for 12 seasons. With an overall coaching record of 473-189, he is considered to be one of the top coaches in the game at any level, and has coached some of the best to ever play the game. Outside of basketball he is a committed philanthropist, volunteering with Coaches vs. Cancer, at Sparrow Hospital and with the Jimmy “V” Foundation. Currently Izzo is the longest tenured coach in the Big Ten Conference and has won Three Big Ten Coach of the Year honors to go along with his National Coach of the Year award in 1998.
