Tom Candiotti pitched in the big leagues for 17 seasons. During his time in the show he posted a career 3.73 Earned Run Average and struck out 1,735 batters while playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians. Known as “The Candy Man”, Candiotti’s career was a surprise to most as he was not drafted out of college and made his way to the major leagues through shear will alone. Upon his retirement in 1999 he joined the Cleveland Indians front office until 2001 and then joined ESPN as a broadcaster and expert analyst on the hit show Baseball Tonight. From 2002 to 2005 he pulled double duty at ESPN and as a commentator with the Toronto Blue Jays and also briefly served as a radio analyst for the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2007 Candiotti made an appearance in the award winning movie 61* as an opposing pitcher against Yankee legend Mickey Mantle.
