About Tom Browning
Tom Browning had a 12-year major league career and spent 11 of those seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. As a rookie in 1984, Browning broke out on the scene, going 20-9 with a 3.55 ERA. He was the first rookie pitcher to win 20 games in 30 years and was named runner-up for National League Rookie of the Year. In 1988, Browning had another stellar campaign, going 18-5 with a 3.41 ERA. That year, he also recorded the 12th perfect game in big league history. Browning won 15 games during the 1990 season and picked up a World Series Game 3 victory as the Reds went on to win the series. The following year, he made his first and only All-Star team. After suffering through injuries, Browning made a few starts with the Kansas City Royals before retiring. Overall, he posted a 123-90 record with a 3.94 ERA. He was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2006. The same year, he released the book, "Tom Browning's Tales from the Reds Dugout."
