About Terry Porter
Terry Porter is a former NBA point guard. Porter played seventeen seasons in the NBA for a total of four teams, thePortland Trail Blazers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Miami Heat, and the San AntonioSpurs. A two time NBA All-Star what makes Porter unique is that he was never traded, insteadswitching teams only through free agency. After a 17 year career, Porter retired in 2002 as amember of the San Antonio Spurs, immediately being hired as an assistant coach with theSacramento Kings. In 2003, Porter left the Kings to become head coach of his hometownMilwaukee Bucks, but was eventually fired after failing to meet expectations in his two seasonsat the helm. Following the firing, Porter took a year off, eventually accepting an assistantcoaching job with the Detroit Pistons. This led to Porter being hired as the Phoenix Suns headcoach, a position he would only hold for 51 games before being fired in the middle of theseason. In 2011, Porter was hired as an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He subsequently was named the head coach at the University of Portland.
