About Teemu Selanne
Teemu Selanne played 21 seasons in the NHL and was a ten-time All-Star. Selanne is the highest-scoring Finnish player in league history. He scored 1,457 points and 684 goals. Selanne was originally selected by the Winnipeg Jets with the tenth overall pick in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. In his first season, he notched 76 goals setting a rookie record that still stands. He was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy. In 1999, Selanne was the league's leading goal scorer. During his career, he had two stints with the Anaheim Ducks and set numerous team records. He is also theJets single-season record holder for goals and points. Selanne won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007. The Ducks retired his #8 jersey in 2015. Selanne was also revered for a long international career with the Finnish national team. He played in five World Championships and six Olympics. Selanne's teams won a silver and bronze at Worlds. Finland also captured three bronze medals and a silver in Olympic competition during his tenure. With 43 points, Selanne is the all-time leader in Olympic tournament history.
