About Steve Cyphers
Steve Cyphers is a commentator and reporter for ESPN, making most of his appearances with SportsCenter, Outside the Lines and ESPNEWS. First joining the ESPN team in 1990 and leaving for a brief time to teach middle school, Cyphers came back in 2004 to continue reporting on breaking news, providing investigative pieces and human-interest features. In his early years, Cyphers served as a part-time football coach at Oregon State, Colorado State, and Western State, and as a sports anchor and reporter in several different states, including Utah, New York, and South Dakota. Throughout his television career, Cyphers has truly made a name for himself and his sparkling personality by capturing a Sports Emmy Award in 1995 and earning an Edward R. Morrow Award the year before for a feature on “The Play”, which was relevant to a Colorado vs. Michigan football game. Cyphers continues to report for ESPN and brings a lot of personality to the network.
