About Steve Cunningham
Steve Cunningham, nicknamed USS Cunningham, is a professional boxer and a former veteran of the US Navy. Before his professional boxing career took off, Cunningham won the prestigious title of the National Golden Gloves in 1988. He then debuted professionally in 2000. Cunningham came in strong by winning his first 19 bouts. Some of the most prominent moments of Cunningham’s career including conquering the previously undefeated Marco Huck in Germany in December of 2007 and earning himself the title of a twotime IBF Cruiserweight Champion in 2009 and 2011. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Cunningham is heavily involved in Team Fight to Walk, which is an organization that advocates the importance of stem cell research for spinal cord injuries and increasing its awareness in the sport of boxing. Cunningham is more than just a fighter physically; he is an emotional fighter as well, raising a daughter who was born with a congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
