About Stephen Ames
Stephen Ames is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Ames began golfing as a child and his golfing talent was developed early when his father would support and discipline him. In 1980, Ames made his Hoerman Cup debut when he was 16 years old. Ames turned professional in 1987, but he did not win a PGA Tour card over the next few years due to a neck injury. In 1991, Ames won his first professional tournament in the US at the Ben Hogan Tour. Ames participated in the European Tour Qualifying School in 1992 and he was successful. In 2006, Ames was awarded the Trinidad and Tobago First Citizens Sports Foundation Sports of the Year Award. In August 2014, Ames was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. In his career, Ames has recorded 11 professional wins. Ames has won 4 PGA Tour events, 2 European Tour events and 1 Web.com Tour event.
