Sgt Slaughter

Sgt. Slaughter was born Robert Remus and got his start in professional wrestling in the National Wrestling Alliance in the late 1970’s. He went on to perform in the American Wrestling Association before signing with the World Wrestling Federation in 1980. Upon joining the WWF he was billed as a villain and eventually won the WWF Championship. During his decorated career he won 12 championships across six different wrestling associations and became well known for the G.I. Joe attire he wore in the ring. In 1984 he was named the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Most Inspirational Wrestler of the Year and was later named the Most Hated Wrestler of the Year in 1991. One of his notable accomplishments was having his Sgt. Slaughter character incorporated into the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy line as well as its animated series and comic books. Although he was considered a villain, he was beloved by wrestling fans for more than two decades inside and outside of the ring.
