About Sean McDermott
Sean McDermott is the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. McDermott was previously the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers from 2011-16. From 2012-15, the Panthers finished in the top ten in overall defense. McDermott is from the coaching tree of Andy Reid. He started out with the Philadelphia Eagles as a scouting administrate coordinator in 1999. McDermott became an assistant to Reid in 2001 and was named a defensive assistant coach in 2002. He spent time as assistant defensive backs coach, secondary coach and linebackers coach with the Eagles before being named defensive coordinator in 2009. McDermott began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, William & Mary, in 1998. As a player, he was an all-conference safety. McDermott is also a two-time national prep champion wrestler.
