Sabine Lisicki Biography

Sabine Lisicki, a tennis player of German descent, has been mastering the courts professionally since 2006. Lisicki was born in 1989 in Troisdorf, West Germany to parents whom had emigrated from Poland. Her father became her personal coach by the age of 7 and they moved to Florida to train at a tennis academy in Bradenton in 2004. Although money was tight all throughout her childhood, Lisicki’s parents did whatever they could to enable her to play in every tournament possible. It certainly paid off, as she was able to turn professional in 2006. Lisicki has represented her country on the court since and has some very prestigious achievements to show for it. Her first notable achievement came in 2009 when she won the Family Circle Cup. In 2011, she became only the second woman in Wimbledon history to make it to the semifinals as a wildcard entering the tournament. Lisicki’s most recent title was clinched at the Hong Kong Tennis Open in 2014. Currently, she holds the world record for the fastest serve by a female tennis player. Lisicki has a lot to be proud of and is an exemplification of how you can work your way up from the bottom to achieve your dreams.
