About Coco Vandeweghe
Coco Vandeweghe is a professional tennis player who is most prestigiously known as the 2008 U.S. Open girls’ singles championship title holder. Vandeweghe was born in New York City in 1991 and grew up in a family of athletes as the daughter of a former Olympic swimmer and the niece of a distinguished basketball player. While she was the first one in her family to excel in tennis, Vandeweghe started playing with her older brother in her early childhood. She is a right-handed player who is coached by top American pro JanMichael Gambill. Vandeweghe debuted professionally in 2008 and has since competed in the Australian Open, French Open, at Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open. Currently residing in California, Vandeweghe continues to excel the most in singles.
