About Laura Robson
Laura Robson is a British tennis player who is currently the No. 24 ranked female player in Great Britain. Robson has been playing tennis since she has been able to hold a tennis racquet. At 7 years old, she was encouraged by her parents to enter a junior tennis academy. Robson signed with management company Octagon at age 10 and with Adidas at 11. Robson played in her first tournament on the junior ITF tour in May 2007. She won her first tournament in October 2007. Robson turned professional in 2008. She entered the 2009 Australian Open junior tournament, where she seeded fifth. Robson was defeated in straight sets. On June 9, 2009, Wimbledon announced that Robson received a wildcard for the Ladies’ Singles event at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships. That same year, she received a wild card into the 2009 U.S. Open qualifying tournament where she lost in the final round. Robson won a Silver Medal in women’s singles during the 2012 Olympics. At the start of the 2014 season, Robson suffered a left wrist injury, which has continued to affect her.
