Roy Jones Jr

Roy Jones Jr made a name for himself as an amateur when he won the 1984 US National Junior Olympics games and just four years later competed in the 1988 Olympic Games for the US. He cruised through the opening rounds en route to an appearance in the finals where he eventually lost a controversial bout, claiming the silver medal. Jones turned professional where he continued to turn heads and impress. Jones made an immediate impact in his professional career when he held 7 championships in the lightweight division at the same time (WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, NABF, WBF, and IBA). He began his career in junior middle weight, and is the only boxer in history to start in this weight class and go on to win a championship in the Heavyweight division. When Jones won the WBA Heavyweight title he also became the first boxer in over 100 years to start at middleweight and go on to win a Heavyweight title. Jones was named “Boxer of the Decade” for the 1990s by the Boxing Writers Association of America. He has compiled a record of 59-8 in his professional career, winning 42 bouts by KO.
