About Rory McIlroy
No player captivates today’s golf audience like Rory McIlroy. While still in his early 20s, McIlroy captured four golf majors. In 2011, he busted down the door of the golf elite, setting a record with a record score of 16-under-par at the U.S. Open. The following year, he won the PGA Championship by a record eight shots. Only Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus have won at least three majors by the age of 25. McIlroy is a two-time PGA and European Tour Golfer of the Year. He has swept the PGA Tour awards twice so far in his career. McIlroy won his first professional event at the age of 19 in 2009. He had a storied junior golf career and topped the World Amateur Golf Ranking in 2007. There is no question he is one of the most marketable athletes in sports. McIlroy is one of Nike’s top athletes. Off the course, he is a ambassador for UNICEF Ireland and a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
