Jack Nicklaus

Jack Nicklaus, also commonly referred to as “The Golden Bear”, is known as a former professional golfer. Nicklaus grew up in Upper Arlington, Ohio, throughout the 1940’s and ‘50’s and took up golf at the young age of 10. Nicklaus had already won the first of five straight Ohio State Junior titles by the age of 12 and at the age of 13, he was faced with and overcame a mild case of polio. Nicklaus went on to major in pre-pharmacy and golf for Ohio State University, where his father had played college football back in the day. He turned professional in 1961 and commenced his big PGA debut in 1962. Nicklaus has since obtained an outstanding 73 wins on the PGA Tour, along with an additional 10 on the Champions Tour and 33 other professional wins. Although having been retired since 2005, Nicklaus was the PGA Tour leading money winner for eight years throughout his career, the PGA Player of the Year five different years, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Bob Jones Award, Payne Steward Award and the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a successful businessman and is admired by many.
