About Roland Thatcher
Living off of TPC at The Woodlands in Texas since the age of 2, Roland Thatcher was around the game of golf his entire life. He attended Auburn University on a golf scholarship where he earned All-SEC honors all four years of his career, winning the SEC Individual Championship as a senior. Upon graduation in 2000, Thatcher joined the Golden Bear Tour before moving up to the Buy.com Tour (now known as the Nationwide Tour). In late 2002 Thatcher earned his first Nationwide Tour win and after a string of Top-10 finishes and a streak of 11 consecutive made cuts in 2003, Thatcher earned his full PGA Tour card for 2004. After a rough second season on the PGA Tour, Thatcher was back on the Nationwide Tour where in 2006 he had a pair of Top-10 finishes and in 2007 added another 6 Top-10 finishes including two wins, earning over $400,000 for the year and finishing 2nd on the Nationwide Tour money list. Thatcher went back to the PGA Tour where he had a pair of Top-10 finishes and in 2009 had his best Tour finish with a runners up finish to Tiger Woods in the Buick Open.
