About Rodney Terry
Rodney Terry is the head men's basketball coach at Texas. Terry got his chance to lead the Longhorns on an interim basis, guiding them to a 22-8 record and appearance in the Elite Eight in 2022-23. He had spent the previous year as a UT assistant after head coaching stints at both Fresno State and UTEP.
Terry's best season at the helm of the program prior to the Texas run came at Fresno State in 2015-16. The Bulldogs reached their first NCAA Tournament under his watch after going 25-9 and winning the Mountain West Tournament championship. Prior to becoming a head coach, Terry was an assistant under Rick Barnes at Texas for nine seasons. The Longhorns went dancing each season he was there and had four Sweet 16 trips. It was undoubtedly the most successful run in program history. Terry also had the privilege of coaching two National Player of the Year winners, T.J. Ford and Kevin Durant. In addition to his time at UT, he also had assistant coaching stints at Baylor and UNC Wilmington. As a player, Terry was a two-year captain and three-year starter at St. Edward's University.
