About Robert Gamez
Robert Gamez is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Before he turned pro in 1989 he attended the University of Arizona where he was a distinguished member of the golf team. He dropped out of college to turn pro and finished his rookie season with two tournament victories. He became one of only four golfers to win their first PGA event. He is most well-known for making his second shot from the fairway on a tough 18th hole in the final round at the 1990 Nestle Invitational which earned him a one stroke victory over Greg Norman. In his career Robert has finished in the top 15 of the PGA Championship as well as The Open Championship in route to winning the Haskins Award and the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Award. Gamez now hosts an annual tournament in Orlando, Florida where he resides to benefit the Team Gamez Foundation.
