Robbie Rogers

Robbie Rogers plays as a winger, a second striker, and left back in Major League Soccer for the LA Galaxy club. At the young age of four and a half he began playing soccer at the American Youth Soccer Organization. In high school he was a two-time All-American and after playing a single season in college at the University of Maryland where he led the club to the 2005 NCAA Championship, and turned pro shortly afterwards. Rogers has also played for the United States men’s national soccer team for several years. He now plays for the LA Galaxy in MLS where he became the first openly gay male athlete to join MLS or any other of the five major North American sports leagues after coming out as gay in February of 2013. He played in his first match since the announcement in May and in 2014 he became the first openly gay male athlete to win a big time pro sports title when the Galaxy won the MLS Cup.
