About Carlos Bocanegra
Carlos Bocanegra is a former American professional soccer player and sports executive. A standout center-back, he began his career with the Chicago Fire in MLS, earning Rookie of the Year in 2000 and two MLS Defender of the Year awards (2002–03). He later played in Europe for clubs including Fulham, Rangers, Rennes, and Racing Santander. Bocanegra earned 110 caps for the U.S. men's national team, captaining it for six years and appearing in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. After retiring, he served as technical director and vice president at Atlanta United until parting ways in 2024. He is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame in the Class of 2020.
