Quinn Buckner Biography

Quinn Buckner is a basketball legend in the state of Indiana. Buckner is one of just seven men to win an NCAA Tournament title, the NBA Finals and an Olympic gold medal. He first became a star at the University of Indiana, where he was a three-year captain. Buckner played on teams that put together two consecutive undefeated regular seasons and 37 straight Big Ten victories. In 1976, he helped lead the Hoosiers all the way to the NCAA Championship. That same year, Buckner won an Olympic gold medal and was selected with the seventh pick in the first round of the NBA Draft.

He went on to play ten years in the NBA and became one of the better defenders in the league. Buckner was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team four times. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks, but after being traded to the Boston Celtics, he won a title in 1984. Buckner retired after one final year with the Indiana Pacers in 1986. In retirement, he spent one season as the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. Buckner is now the television color commentator for the Pacers as well as their Vice President of Communications.
