Paul Finebaum Biography

Paul Finebaum is a sports radio and television personality, currently working for ESPN’s SEC Network. Finebaum graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1978, beginning his broadcast career in 1980 as a reporter for a Birmingham, Alabama newspaper, where he broke many sports stories. Finebaum would report on Alabama and Auburn sports for the majority of his career, starting the Paul Finebaum radio show in 2001. This show featured commentary from Finebaum along with calls from listeners, and is currently one of the most popular radio shows in southeast United States. In 2011, Finebaum found himself in one of the biggest sports stories of the year, when Alabama fan Harvey Updyke called in to take credit for poisoning the trees at Auburn’s famous Toomer’s Corner. This act brought Finebaum increased national attention, and his ratings for his show increased immensely. In 2013, Finebaum’s show was taken off the air due to contract negotiations, and he signed on to work with ESPN on their new SEC Network, where he hosts various shows.
