Oscar De La Hoya is a retired professional boxer. As an amateur, De La Hoya recorded 234 wins and 6 losses. De La Hoya won the National Golden Gloves title in 1989. The following year at 17 years old, De La Hoya won the U.S. National Championship at featherweight and he was the youngest U.S. boxer at the Goodwill Games winning a gold medal. De La Hoya participated in the 1992 Summer Olympics where he won the gold medal by defeating Marco Rudolph. De La Hoya made his professional debut by scoring a first round TKO victory on November 23, 1992. He won his first world title at 20 years old when he stopped Jimmy Bredahl in the tenth round to win the WBO Super Featherweight title. De La Hoya fought in a total of 45 fights where he won 39 of them, 30 by KO and only recorded 6 losses. On April 14, 2009, De La Hoya announced his retirement.
