About Nick Kurtz
Nick Kurtz is a star first baseman for the Oakland Athletics. Nicknamed "Big Amish" for his 6'5", 240-pound frame and hometown roots near Amish country. A standout at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kurtz won back-to-back state championships, earning All-State honors in baseball and basketball. Committed to Wake Forest as a pitcher, he became a premier hitter, slashing .333 with 61 homers and 182 RBI over three seasons. Drafted fourth overall by the Athletics in 2024, Kurtz debuted in 2025, leading rookies in homers (36), RBIs (86), runs (90), slugging (.619), and OPS (1.002) over 117 games. He was a finalist for AL Rookie of the Year and is a bona fide rising MLB star.
