Mike Minor Biography

Mike Minor is a starting pitcher for the Oakland Athletics. He originally blossomed into a reliable starting pitcher with the Texas Rangers before being traded to the A's during the 2020 season. Minor was selected to his first All-Star Game with the Rangers in 2019. He originally signed with the club in free agency in 2017. After bouncing back from injury, Minor pitched out of the bullpen for the Kansas City Royals in 2017. He had great success, posting a 2.55 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings. Minor initially established himself in the Atlanta Braves organization. The Braves selected him with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft and he rose quickly as a prospect, getting selected to the 2010 All-Star Futures Game and making his debut later that year. Minor also set a single-game team rookie record with 12 strikeouts.
