About Mike McDaniel
Mike McDaniel is the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers. McDaniel used his prowess on that side of the ball to previously experience a rapid ascent to becoming head coach of the Miami Dolphins. McDaniel gained great experience under San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. He was an offensive assistant under Shanahan with the Atlanta Falcons from 2015-16. He then followed him to San Francisco, starting out as run game coordinator for four seasons before being elevated to offensive coordinator in 2021. McDaniel oversaw an offense that led to a surprise run to the NFC Championship Game.
McDaniel got his break in coaching when he was hired as an intern by Shanahan's father, Mike, with the Denver Broncos in 2005. He also spent time on the elder Shanahan's staff with the Washington Redskins. McDaniel is a graduate of Yale University, where he was also a member of the football team.
