About Matt Harvey
Matt Harvey is the young ace of the New York Mets and an emerging sports star in the city. Harvey would flash his immense potential in 2013, making his first All-Star team while going 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA and 191 strikeouts in just over 178 innings. In the first month of the season, he won MLB Pitcher of the Month after posting a 1.56 ERA over his first 40 innings. Unfortunately, after 26 starts, Harvey was diagnosed with a partial UCL tear that August and shut down for the rest of 2013 and all of 2014. He originally made his MLB debut in July 2012. Harvey struck out 11 in his debut start against the Arizona Diamondbacks, setting a team record. The Mets originally selected him seventh overall in the 2010 MLB Draft. Harvey made two mid-season All-Star teams in the minors, was selected to the Futures Game in 2011, and also was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star that season. He pitched for three seasons at North Carolina, finishing 22-7 with a 3.73 ERA in his Tar Heels tenure.
