About Matt Chapman
Matt Chapman is one of the best third basemen in baseball with the San Francisco Giants. Chapman became a major league star in his first full season with the Oakland Athletics in 2018. He hit .278 with 24 home runs and 68 RBI. Chapman was immediately a top defender, winning a Gold Glove, the Fielding Bible Award and the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award that season. The next year he was named to his first All-Star team. Chapman won three Gold Gloves in five seasons with Oakland before being traded to the Blue Jays in 2022.
Chapman originally came up in 2017 and played in 84 games for the A's. Chapman played baseball at college powerhouse Cal State Fullerton and was a first-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft. He starred in the minor leagues and was the 2016 Texas League Player of the Year. Chapman is a California native who remarkably was a teammate of one of the other top players in baseball, Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado.
