Marv Levy

Many people call sports figures heroes, but we all know that it’s our soldiers that are the real heroes.  Marv Levy however, embodies both those qualities.  After high school Levy joined the United States Army and fought in WWII from 1943 to 1946 before returning stateside to pursue a collegiate football career and earning his masters degree in English history from Harvard University.  Eventually Levy joined the coaching ranks and worked his way up the college coaching ladder, landing head coaching jobs at New Mexico, Cal Berkeley and William & Mary until making the jump to the NFL in 1973.  In 1978 he earned his first head-coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs and eventually coached the Buffalo Bills from 1986 to 1997, leading them to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990 to 1993. 

For his contributions to the game and service to his country he was honored with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.  In 2006 the Bills tapped Levy to serve as their General Manager and Vice President of Football Operations, where he remained until 2007.  Since that time he has published two books, “Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in Buffalo Bills History,” and “Between the Lines.”  Enjoying the process of writing, Levy intends to contribute more works of literature in the future.
